Explore Galway - Where to Eat, Drink and Explore in Galway City

Galway is a city that bursts with life, offering an endless list of things to do, places to eat, and experiences to enjoy. Whether you're wandering through the heart of the city in Eyre Square, exploring the historical Latin Quarter, diving into the vibrant West End nightlife, or soaking up the sun in Salthill, there's something for everyone!

Eyre Square

Sit and enjoy Galway's lovely and ever-changing weather in JFK Memorial Park, the park renamed after President Kennedy made his famous speech to the Irish people! Have a visit to the Explore Galway Kiosk, where our team is happy to help all day from 8:15 am-5:30 pm, to find out what’s the craic and how you can maximize your visit to Galway! You can go look at the many landmarks we have in Eyre Square such as the 14 Tribe Families’ flags or The Browne Doorway, Quincentennial Fountain, Pádraic Ó Conaire Statue, and JFK Memorial. On our walking tours, you can hear all about the original families whose flags you see proudly displayed, learn that the Browne Doorway used to be the only entrance to the fenced-in Eyre Square and uncover the reason behind the Quincentennial Fountain being a fountain without water. There’s also a landmark dedicated to the brilliant writer who boosted the presence of the Irish written word and the infamous Irish-American president who paid a visit to Galway in 1963. If you are looking for a bite and a pint, look no further than The Skeff Bar, An Púcán, O'Connell's Bar, Thirteen on the Green. If a coffee pick-me-up is what you need then consider a couple of our favorites such as Esquires - The Organic Coffee Co, Rooster's Cafe, Merchant Café & Bar, WYLDE, and Jungle Cafe. If you are in the mood to shop, take a stroll down Shop Street or visit Eyre Square Centre for souvenirs or a fresh addition to your wardrobe.
